The Juvéderm Revitalizer
Tell me the truth, have you ever wondered what Botox would do for you? Perhaps you are not at all interested in any form of enhancement. I can honestly say that I have thought about it. There are some irritating crinkles that are forming in-between my brows that I would love to see disappear. And the laugh lines make me frown. Here is something that kinda peaked my interest…
Allergan Canada, the makers of BOTOX Cosmetic and Juvéderm facial filler, has launched an innovative online service that allows Canadians to experience a virtual cosmetic enhancement make-over with the click of a mouse. The Juvéderm Revitalizer allows consumers to visualize what they could look like after treatment with Juvéderm facial filler. They simply upload a photo of their face onto www.juvederm.ca and click on the many treatment area options to see what they would look like after a virtual makeover.
“This is a great tool for patients and physicians alike,” says Dr. Fred Weksberg, Toronto Cosmetic Dermatologist. “Physicians can only do so much to describe what the result of facial fillers will look like. This is an easy way for people who are considering treatments to actually see what they can look like, without even leaving their homes.”
Non-surgical cosmetic treatments such as facial fillers are rapidly rising in popularity and becoming more mainstream. In 2002 there were 157,000 non-surgical cosmetic procedures in Canada alone, and in 2005, that number jumped to 507,000 - a 223% growth over three years.
What is Juvéderm? It is a soft, replenishing injectable gel made from hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring sugar found in your body. It adds volume to minimize the appearance of wrinkles, thinning skin and lips for up to one year. Hyaluronic acid injections have been shown to stimulate collagen production and produce instant and natural looking results without requiring any downtime. It has also been demonstrated to be safe for all skin tones.
I decided to try this online program and see what results I got. I could not find a photo that was close enough to see my character lines (how convenient) so I grabbed a celebrity image off the internet as my test subject. Now I only picked Helen Mirren because she has character lines and not because I think she needs any work done- I think she looks fabulous.
1. I uploaded the image of Helen. Really easy to do so.
2. I was then asked to align a white box around the face. An image guide is shown so there is no way to make a mistake.
3. There were many choices I could make to enhance the look of Helen: Brow lift, Soften frown lines, Soften crow’s feet, Soften under the eyes, Soften smile lines, Cheek enhancement, Mouth frown, Lip volume and Jaw contour. I clicked on each item and used the plus button to adjust the percentage of the desired effect. I decided to pick everything and asked for the highest improvement I could get.
4. Then I clicked on the Show Results button.
5. My results were emailed to me and here they are.

So what do you think about the results? I am curious to hear. Is it better to age gracefully or is it ok to help make ourselves feel and look a bit younger?
