Give Your Face a Breath of Fresh Air

Women in the Greater Toronto Area can now have vibrant, luminous skin in only 40 minutes thanks to a fresh new facial offered by Dr. Sandy Skotnicki-Grant of The Bay Dermatology Centre.  Intraceuticals Rejuvenation Infusion cutting-edge technology is a favourite of Madonna (see Access Hollywood clip) and used by other Hollywood celebrities, dermatologists, plastic surgeons and high profile spas worldwide.

Originally developed in Australia, where some of the world’s most aggressive skin cancers occur, this system was initially used as a delivery method for topical chemotherapy and has been modified to deliver intense hydration, vitamins A, C and E and Japanese green tea deep within the skin.

“This is a very specific type of oxygen facial designed to improve every skin type and condition,” said Dr. Skotnicki-Grant. “Its ability to restore moisture, tighten skin, increase firmness and reduce fine lines and wrinkles in just 40 minutes is the perfect treatment for special events, life changes or being photographed or filmed. There are many oxygen facials available, but this is a very specific technology exclusive to our centre.”

The Intraceuticals Topical Hyperbaric Oxygen System delivers therapeutic-grade oxygen under hyperbaric pressure to infuse a hydrophilically (water-loving) active serum to the deeper layers of the skin. The serum has a base of hyaluronic acid, an ingredient found naturally in the skin and renowned for its superior benefits as an ingredient carrier.

“It’s the collagen that gives skin its firmness, but it is the hyaluronic acid that nourishes the collagen,” Dr. Skotnicki-Grant added. “Since well-structured collagen fibres reflect more light, this translates to radiant and luminous skin.” Dr Skotnicki-Grant also brought this system on board to be used after resurfacing laser treatments, such as Fraxel, which injure the skin. Hyperbaric oxygen is known to speed healing of the skin and is presently used to treat skin ulcers.

The all-natural facial takes only 40 minutes, improves with repeated treatment application (a series of six) and is reactivated between sessions when used in conjunction with support products. These products, which include cleanser, hydration gel, moisture-binding cream and eye contour gel, closely mimic the action of the infusion treatment and continue to provide a nutrient-rich bed for the newly stimulated skin to draw from, ensuring improved results even after receiving treatment.
